Alta Seeds At The Forefront Of New Opportunities In The Global Sorghum Industry

Alta Seeds, the premium brand of Advanta Seeds in Europe and the US, supported the 2023 Sorghum in the 21st Century Global Sorghum Conference that took a place June 5-9, 2023, in Montpellier, France. The conference focused on how Sorghum,  which is grown in many regions around the world, is contributing to more resilient and sustainable food and feed value chains. 

Alta Seeds was the Gold sponsor for the conference, which brought together international specialists in the fields of genetics and genomics, plant breeding, sustainable farming systems, post-harvest solutions, and product development to identify key solutions to some of the most urgent challenges facing agriculture and food security today.

The conference was organized by France’s Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD) and a consortium of global research and development institutions, including the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research on Sorghum and Millet (SMIL), SorghumID, the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), and the Centre d’Étude Régional pour l’Amélioration de l’Adaption à la Sécheresse (CERAAS), and is supported by the International Sorghum Task Force (ITSF). 

Alta Seeds was represented by a global team of experts in sorghum, who presented the recent company’s research in sorghum seed technologies.  Topics included Advanta Seeds sorghum carbon projects in Argentina, future R&D strategies in genetic improvement and seed technologies.    

All major sorghum-producing regions in the world were present at the conference. Alta Seeds which represented Advanta Seeds as the global Sorghum technology leader has commercial presence in Sorghum in over 50 countries and about 40 research and technology development sites placed strategically in major Sorghum regions.
